The Benefits Of Home Fragrance

Home fragrance is a way of sprucing up your home not just by adding potted plants to the window or a scented candle on the table but rather through a number of different natural scents. These will enter through your nose and be absorbed into your system, making you feel cosy and relaxed. There are various ways in which you can use home fragrance ranging from as simple as using candles around the house, diffusers that emit scent into the air, or spraying some oil onto fabric surfaces.

The benefits of home fragrance

1. Natural scent

This is good in that you are reducing the amount of artificial compounds that associate themselves with your room and environment.

2. Relaxing scents

You may well have a particular scent that you associate with relaxation or going to sleep. These are called “hormonally active scents”, which include the smells of lavender, vanilla, rose and jasmine. The thing to remember is not to use too much – that is, don’t spray your whole house! Instead, add one or more of these initially and then increase the amount used when you feel that you need more.

3. Being environmentally conscious

Spraying perfumes onto fabrics and carpets is not good for the environment, as it uses a lot of water. Home fragrance can be used to replace one or more of those chemicals that we use in so-called “air fresheners” which are often forms of ethanol, sometimes mixed with water and other chemicals. There are also many ways you can use home fragrance as an alternative to aerosols that meet the same purpose of masking unpleasant smells in the air and replacing them with something else.

4. Way to save money

You may have spent a lot of money on buying various perfumes and colognes and are concerned that you are not getting your “money’s worth”. Don’t worry, you can get around this by using lavender, which is a very popular and well-liked scent. Lavender has more than 100 compounds in it, many of which smell different from each other, with some being more volatile than others. This means that when you smell soap or detergent about the house, you will be able to use the scent of lavender as a replacement for it.
